following belief statements.
Students
we believe that children learn and develop best:
·
in a safe caring environment
·
with a positive self image
·
in a creative environment where students are active and
interactive learners
·
in an environment able to bridge the world of the student, the
world of the school, and the world outside the school
·
when inspired to be lifelong learners in a vastly changing world
·
where emphasis is placed on exploration, risk taking and
discovery as integral to each student's school experience
·
through critical thinking, creative thinking and problem solving
with attention to individual development
·
when monitoring is used of student development with appropriate
assessment and evaluation strategies
·
when attitudes of tolerance and respect for others and the
environment are developed
·
when curriculum and instructional strategies to meet these
beliefs
Staff
we believe that staff are most productive when:
·
a safe and caring environment is encouraged
·
they are encouraged to be lifelong learners and are provided
with opportunities for continued learning and growth
·
a creative atmosphere is encouraged which allows them to explore
innovative classroom organisation and teaching practices
·
time to plan collaboratively and evaluate programs is
facilitated
·
staff are encouraged to develop appropriate assessment and
evaluation strategies using the national curriculum guidelines
Curriculum
we believe that the best learning occurs when:
·
curriculum and instructional strategies are developed to support
your child’s specific learning needs
·
the school adopts and implements appropriate curriculum
structures for our students
Community
we believe that the relationship between the school and the
community is most productive:
·
when the school empowers all members of the school community in
collaborative decision making and planning
·
the school provides an atmosphere in which non-judgemental
listening and the opportunity to express opinions is encouraged
·
the school involves parents and community members in the school,
classrooms and learning programs
