Our Aims:

  1. To offer all pupils opportunities to experience differing sporting environments
    and challenges underlying the values of both team and individual games

  2. To endeavour to fulfill the needs of all participants regardless of ability

  3. To encourage all pupils to develop a positive attitude towards sport and exercise

  4. To endeavour to instill in all pupils an understanding of the need to remain fit
    and active throughout their lives and not just when they are at school
    To assist the socialisation of the pupils by providing co-operative and competitive situations in which they work together, help each other and share experiences, through fair play and good sportsmanship

  5. To provide a broad based and well balanced programme of physical education

  6. To provide pupils with opportunities to develop a good basic level of skill in a wide range of activities, and opportunities to participate at a more advanced level

  7. To appreciate skilled performance in themselves and others

  8. To assist in the developing personalities of the pupils by encouraging initiative, self-discipline, control, poise, confidence, self esteem, and an understanding of personal capabilities, strengths and limitations

  9. To experience the pleasure, satisfaction, and enjoyment of physical activity
    and encourage future participation in sport for leisure

 

Years 7 - 9

The Girls follow the PE National Curriculum through Key Stage Three.  Each Pupil has one single and a double lesson over the two week timetable.

Core Activities:
Netball - Hockey - Football - Outdoor Pursuits - SAQ - Gymnastics - Dance - Badminton - Basketball - Swimming – HRE – Rugby – Softball – Rounders – Cricket – Athletics.

 

Years 10 - 11

GCSE Physical Education integrates the study of both the theoretical and practical elements involved in fundamental sports science.

 

Unit 1 - THEORY (40%)
Exam – 1hour 30mins (80marks)

Unit 2 - PRACTICAL (60%)

 

2.1 – Practical Performance (48%)

Four practical performances in the role of player, leader or official from 2 different activity groups (40 marks)
 

2.2    - Analysis of Performance (12%)
2.2.1 – Rules, regulations and terminology 4marks
2.2.2 – Observe and analyse performance 4 marks
2.2.3 – Evaluate performance (4 marks)
2.2.4 – Plan strategies, tactics and practices 4 marks
2.2.5 – Plan a Personal Exercise Programme (PEP)
