The students follow the series of texts Framework Mathematics
(Oxford University Press). This is based on the UK National
Curriculum(NC) framework and the texts are designed to provide
appropriate and challenging mathematical topics appropriate to
the NC levels at which the students are currently working.
At the end of year 9 students sit the UK SATs.
Key Stage 4 – Years 10 and 11
The department follows the IGCSE Cambridge Mathematics Syllabus
0580/1. This syllabus offers two possible tiers of entry – Core
and Extended – in which students can achieve grades ranging from
G to C and E to A* respectively.
Sixth Form – Years 12/13
The department offers Advanced subsidiaries (AS) and A levels
set by Edexcel examination board. An AS is considered to be half
an A level. A minimum of B grade at IGCSE (or equivalent) is
necessary to start the AS/A level course
Students follow three modules in year 12, the modules are; Pure
Mathematics – C1 and C2 plus one other module chosen from -
Statistics 1 (S1) or Mechanics 1 (M1).
In Y13 they complete their A level by taking three further
modules and examinations. These modules would be Pure
Mathematics – C3 and C4, plus another module.
