Business Studies is an
academic subject taught in Years 10 and 11. Students are
prepared for the Cambridge IGCSE examination in Business Studies
which they sit at the end of year 11.
The syllabus covers the following key areas of study:
Business and the environment in which it operates
Business structures, organization and control
Business activities to achieve objectives
People in business
Regulating and controlling business activity
The
examination consists of two written papers.
Paper one
consist of short answer questions. It often asks for terms to be
explained or suggestions be made about particular business
situations.
Paper two is
a case study paper. The questions focus around a business
problem or situation that is outlined in a case study and has a
mix of short and long answer questions. The paper requires the
student to apply business knowledge and concepts as well as
interpreting information given.
The
Business Studies syllabus at IGCSE is an ideal introduction to
‘A’ and ‘AS’ Level Business Studies, Economics and Accounting.
It is also a good lead into Diplomas in Business, Business
Administration, Business Administration (Travel & Tourism),
Human Resource Management, Accounting and Finance, Marketing and
Sales Management as well as University Business courses
