Wake Up! Shake Up! Every Thursday 07:30 in Misted Area

A Healthy packed school lunch is important to sustain your child during the course of a full school day.  Soft drinks, crisps and cookies do not constitute a healthy lunch.  Water must be part of your child's lunch.

A healthy lifestyle is a long-term commitment. A diet is a fad and for this reason we at AAESS Primary aim to educate children on how to live a healthy lifestyle. An education which clearly shows children that it is ok to eat treats such as chocolate and crisps but in moderation along with a balanced diet.

We aim to:

Inform children about making healthy choices
Increase awareness on where food comes from
Make children aware of the positive aspects of living non-sedentary lifestyles

We accept that it is a long-term commitment and investment and along with your support we believe that we can make a significant difference to every child’s life. To help you assist us, we have provided a number of resources on this webpage including relevant information provided by us and the latest regional press releases.

Let us make this happen together!

Top Tips
Try to make good foods as exciting as possible by making small changes to the way you prepare and present foods to your children.
• Get creative, include a variety of foods
• Change the shape of the foods e.g. sandwiches, cheese, vegetable snacks
• Use different types of carbohydrates to make meals and snacks more interesting e.g. different breads / rolls, wraps, muffins.
• Pack water in different containers to encourage your child to drink enough water throughout the day.
• Try to plan / prepare lunchbox foods the night before to save time in the mornings.

Snack Dash Game

The overall objective is to guide the main character from start to finish in the shortest possible time, whilst collecting as many points as possible along the way. In order to fulfil the brief, one of the game's key features is the inclusion of healthy and unhealthy food.

Collecting healthy foods (such as apples, water and carrots) increases the player's score and protects the player from danger. Conversely the consumption of unhealthy food (such as crisps, sweets and fizzy drinks) cause the character considerable instant weight gain. The player can still move but is unable to move quickly enough to negotiate features like the loop the loop or jump over the baddies. A little bit of exercise is required to lose the excess pounds (toggling the A and S keys will make the character perform a number of press ups in order to lose that puppy fat), however this all takes up precious time. The only way to get a decent score and speed is by avoiding the fatty foods altogether.
