The
Parents Association - Friends of Al Ain English Speaking
School (FoS) aims to work alongside the Al Ain English
Speaking School staff to complement and enrich students’
experience. We intend to do this by organising and
supporting social, community, and fund-raising events (for
the School as well as for charity) both within the School
and the larger community, as well as providing opportunities
for parents to participate in and contribute to school life.
Objectives
To welcome newcomers to the
School and the Al Ain community
To establish a network of
contact parents for each year group/class, whereby
students and parents can have a localised class
contact and get together for different events and
activities outside school
To organise social and
fundraising activities/events for the School as well
as charity (NB. Any monies raised to be spent at the
discretion of the FOS – with input from parents and
the AAESS Staff)
Meetings are held monthly in the school library,
dates and timings are advertised in the newsletter
prior to the meetings and everyone is most welcome.
Parent Buddies
What does a Parent Buddy do?
Main Objective: is to pass on important information from the
school about upcoming events to the parents.
This is done by: Sending an introductory letter to the
parents in the class to include your contact details and
what you do.
Collating all contact information (email addresses) from the
parents in your class.
Receiving information by email from the Parent Buddy
Coordinator and forwarding information to all the parents in
your class. (School updates and reminders about special
events and trips) You can but are not obligated to organise
occasional class functions such as a trip to the park,
picnic or ice skating. You may like to organise a parent’s
night out even! Some parent Buddies find these things easier
to organise by teaming up with other contact parents.
Being a parent buddy is a valuable role in the school
community and all you need is a computer to be able to do
it!
Role
of the Parent Buddy Coordinator:
Main objective: is to Liaise between the School and the
individual Class Parent Buddies.
You can do this by:
Sending an initial sign up sheet for parents asking for
volunteers to be parent contacts for their class or year.
Meeting with parent buddies to explain their job
description.
Meeting weekly with the Primary and Secondary secretaries to
find out any information about up coming events and dates
and emailing the parent buddies with the information.
Making sure all the teachers have the contact parents’ email
addresses to be able to send them any reminders or
information specific to the class or year group.
Keeping the morale of parent buddies high and motivated!
